Parents and carers are always welcome at the day nurseries, and we encourage this in a number of ways, such as free settling-in time for parent and child, lots of informal daily communication, termly parent evenings, regular newsletters and invitations, notice boards, and this website!

Nurseries also have a parents group and arrange social activities for themselves as well as supporting developments in the nurseries and play clubs.

Staff can also assist parents to complete forms to enable grants and vouchers to be paid towards nursery fees and with tax credits.

Training is also available to parents using specialist training provider Aspire Training Team, often fully funded, and delivering a wide range of childcare training from NVQs to Paediatric First Aid, as well as numeracy and literacy if required.

The government has introduced many changes into Childcare over the years, and Tops staff have worked and trained hard to ensure we keep up with best practice.  Currently we use the Early Years Foundation Curriculum, for 0-5 year olds,  Tops wholeheartedly support the principles as follows:

A Unique Child. Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive Relationships.  Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationship with parents and/or a key person.

Enabling Environments.  The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

Learning and Development.  Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
