52 improvements, 52 weeks: Week 36 – Forest Festival

Each year, Tops and Aspire colleagues are welcomed to an annual awards evening to celebrate colleagues.

This year, the formal awards evening ceremony was replaced with a Forest Festival weekend, which incorporated our annual awards and was held at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre, Hampshire on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September. It was a wonderful weekend of fun, activities, presentations and the launch of our Gold and Platinum Clubs.

The Gold and Platinum Club was officially launched with a champagne reception and Cheryl Hadland and a number of directors welcomed some of the club members who were presented with a gift to welcome them to the club. The club invited colleagues who had reached 15 and 20 years’ service to celebrate their dedication to the Tops and Aspire Family.

Colleagues and their family were offered the opportunity during Saturday to take part in a number of activities including high ropes, den building, paddle boarding, canoeing and archery.

During the evening on Saturday, an awards presentation took place followed by a BBQ and disco. We are so pleased and proud to share the full list of winners with you, all those colleagues who were nominated will receive a certificate shortly, the winners received an eco-sustainable wooden award.

HR awarded medals to those colleagues who had achieved 100% attendance for 2018/2019 as well as gifts to those who had achieved 3 and 5 years full attendance.

We were very pleased to award 4 setting the 2019 ECO and sustainable award. Those who were awarded it have worked extremely hard to have a sustainable travel plan in place, hold the Plastic Free Award, have been promoting and loaning out the real nappy hamper to parents and they also hold the Silver Eco School Award. All of our settings are working towards all of these initiatives but the following settings have achieved all of them. Very well done to Tops Corfe Mullen, Tops Havant, Tops Lymington and Tops Wimborne.

A number of our nurseries received recognition for achieving full quality assurance scheme accreditation. Tops Day Nurseries Quality Assurance scheme provides a route for our Leaders and Managers to raise standards through a process of self-evaluation and self-assessment. This involves practitioners in a cycle of continuous improvement in which the provision is audited against a set of standards. Congratulations to Tops Wareham, Tops Newport, Tops Gillingham, Tops Winchester and Tops Corfe Mullen!

There were also 2 directors awards, a managing directors award and the director’s award. Paula Garrett, area manager won the managing director award and Sandy Kemish won the directors award.

It was a wonderful weekend and we are so very proud and thankful that we had the opportunity to thank all of our colleagues for all their hard work, commitment and dedication and for being a part of the Tops and Aspire family! We can’t wait to do it all again next year, please save the dates 4th and 5th September 2020, same venue!
