At Tops, we are committed to providing exceptional care and learning opportunities for children, but our dedication to the early years goes beyond the nursery walls. Our very own Hayley Fisher, who is working on her doctoral thesis about the relationship of learning and expertise in early years education, recently attended the 32nd EECERA (European Early Childhood Education Research Association) Annual Conference in Brighton. This experience not only highlighted her research journey but also provided valuable insights into the evolving field of early childhood education.
A Milestone Achievement in Early Years Research
Hayley’s research focuses on understanding the relationship between learning and expertise for early years educators. With data collection now complete, Hayley has entered the exciting phase of analysing her findings. As part of her development, her university supervisors encouraged her to present her research at a conference, and she took the plunge by applying to present at the prestigious EECERA conference.
The EECERA Annual Conference, hosted by Brighton University, brought together over 900 researchers, educators, and professionals from around the world to share and discuss the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in early childhood education. The theme for this year’s conference was “Developing Sustainable Early Childhood Education Systems,” which aligns perfectly with Tops Day Nurseries’ commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality care and learning for young children.
An Inspiring EECERA Conference Experience
Although Hayley had presented at conferences before, this was a significant milestone as it marked the presentation of her own research. It was a big step in her journey as a professional researcher, and she was supported by Tops’ founder, Cheryl Hadland, who also attended the conference. Cheryl’s experience and guidance helped Hayley feel at ease and confident in a new environment.
Throughout the conference, Hayley had the opportunity to attend a variety of seminars, keynote speeches, and poster sessions. The international exchange of ideas was incredibly inspiring, with delegates from diverse backgrounds sharing their research on early childhood education. As the conference progressed, Hayley’s nerves built up as her own presentation neared, but the support and camaraderie from fellow researchers helped her feel empowered. When it was finally her turn to present, the audience responded positively, asking thoughtful questions and providing constructive feedback.
By the end of the conference, Hayley felt a renewed sense of confidence and inspiration. The event had not only been an opportunity for personal and professional growth but also a chance to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about early childhood education. As Hayley reflects on her experience, she is already looking forward to the next EECERA conference in 2025, hosted by Comenius University in Bratislava, where the theme will focus on celebrating diversity and seeking inclusion in early education.
Our Commitment to Lifelong Learning
At Tops, we believe in the importance of ongoing professional development for all our educators. Just like Hayley, we are always striving to learn, grow, and improve, ensuring that we can continue to provide the best care and education for every child who walks through our doors. We are proud of Hayley’s accomplishments and look forward to supporting her on the next stage of her journey.
Through events like the EECERA conference, Tops Day Nurseries reaffirms its commitment to staying at the forefront of early childhood education. By investing in both the professional growth of our team and the development of the children in our care, we help foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
