In 2016, Tops Day Nurseries introduced a comprehensive tooth brushing program following Public Health England’s guidelines. This initiative ensures daily teeth brushing at the nursery with fluoride toothpaste. We focus on fostering effective, independent brushing, monitoring the recommended 2-minute duration. Recently, environmentally conscious Bamboo Toothbrushes were introduced for children at Tops, enhancing our commitment to sustainability and their well-being.
Sustainability at the Core
Guided by our green ethos, Tops invested in bamboo toothbrushes, avoiding plastic due to its environmental impact. Plastic toothbrushes contribute to landfills, and the global movement away from unnecessary plastic use is crucial.
Bamboo, the world’s fastest naturally renewing resource, is an ideal material. Known for its rapid growth and regenerative properties, bamboo requires minimal water and no pesticides, making it a sustainable choice. Its inherent properties, such as being anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial, make it not only eco-friendly but also hygienic. The toothbrushes feature soft, BPA-free, 100% biodegradable bristles for effective, enamel-friendly cleaning.

Child-sized bamboo toothbrushes will be in all 30 nurseries along the south coast, available for £1.99 each from the nursery office, and soon on our online shop. These eco-friendly brushes can also be found in health food shops and are expected in supermarkets soon!
