Debbie Attrill and Katherine Pritchard from Tops Newport have recently achieved their level 3 in Speech and Language Support for newborns to 3 year olds.
The two took part in a course called Elklan, which helps practitioners to support and develop core skills to support young children with their speech, language and development.
Topics that are covered throughout the course include the link between play and language development, promoting listening and attention, developing a wide and varied vocabulary, supporting young children with unclear speech and explore how we articulate sounds.
Hannah Jennings, Nursery Manager at Tops Newport, commented, “They have both worked very hard to achieve this and we are very proud of them. The skills they have learned will be a great asset to the children and fellow staff members.”
