Hadland Care Group recognise efforts with awards ceremony
Hadland Care Group were once again recognised as an Employer of Choice, by celebrating the efforts of hundreds of employees at their annual awards evening held at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel in Bournemouth. The awards were presented by Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director, and celebrated the achievements carried out by individuals from over 20 locations across Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire.
With staff in attendance from Tops Day Nurseries, Aspire Training Team and Reside Care Homes, the awards presented during the evening included; 12 Above and Beyond the Call of Duty awards as well as awards being presented to Tops Boscombe and Tops Poole for outstanding health and safety, and over 80 commemorative medallions for 100% attendance during the past 12 months!
In addition, a new Going Green award was presented to head office for achievements made by the group’s head office in Boscombe. Accepting the award on head office’s behalf were Jeff Everett, Commercial Director of Hadland Care Group and Terri Smithers, head office manager. Jeff said: “Having implemented a green action plan across all areas of the business, it’s great to see these accomplishments being rewarded. With any change, there is often resistance, but we have genuinely had buy-in from the staff and the personal uptake is really inspiring.”
“We have initiated many energy saving systems and have more than halved our monthly spend on internal photocopying and paper costs! This is a really important issue and the overall performance has been greater than expected, saving over 28% across the business as a whole with just under 34% of this coming directly from head office, where we have replaced lights with LED lights, fitted timers and sensors and worked with colleagues to recycle and turn equipment off when not needed”
Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director added “There is still much we would like to do, like replacing more of our older, inefficient boilers. Having removed all single-use plastic cups we would also like to remove the use of as many plastic one-use items as we possibly can to save the environment for our children, so balloons, straws, plastic gloves and aprons are all on the hit list, to be replaced with sustainable, reusable options. Our aims are “zero to landfill”, to recycle, upcycle and reuse rather than waste resources.”
