Between the 8th and 16th of June, Great Big Green Week will bring a wave of support for protecting our planet. Tens of thousands of people from all over the country will actively engage in celebrating the everyday actions taken to stand up for nature and combat climate change.
National organisations, businesses, and media outlets are joining in to advocate for stronger action from the UK Government on climate change. At Tops Day Nurseries, we’re excited to be part of this important movement, teaching our little ones about the importance of caring for our environment and making a positive impact on our world.
We ran an event during Great Big Green Week 2023, inviting local people to visit a Victorian retrofit house to understand how to upgrade old homes to be more energy efficient. Visitors swapped tips on things like insulation, ventilation, sustainable heating and solar panels, learning how to make their homes warmer and more eco-friendly to save money as well as the planet. We’re looking forward to more swaps events for Great Big Green Week 2024!

The first Great Big Green Week took place in September 2021, marking the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK. Communities came together again in September 2022, with over a quarter of a million people participating.
In June 2023, Great Big Green Week witnessed even greater participation, with over a quarter of a million people actively engaging. National organisations, institutions, businesses, and media outlets joined in, putting increased pressure on the government to take stronger action on climate change.
At Tops, we’re excited to be part of Great Big Green Week 2024. This year, the theme is ‘Nature and Climate: A Better Future Together.’ Moreover, we believe in teaching our little ones the importance of caring for our planet and working together to create a sustainable future. Let’s unite our communities, inspire action, and show our children the beauty of a greener world.
We are witnessing the effects of extreme weather events caused by climate change on the people and places we cherish, both here in the UK and around the world. Now is the time to act to protect them. Climate change is the challenge of our lifetime, and it is crucial that we do everything we can to address it.
In 2024, we’ve witnessed some progress in the battle against climate change, with the implementation of new policies and initiatives worldwide. However, there’s still much more work to do to secure a sustainable future for our children. Moreover, this year’s Great Big Green Week is a call to action for all of us to step up our efforts and make a difference. After all, we can create a greener, healthier planet.
At Tops, we believe in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible world for all. We aim to achieve this through educating the children of today so that they, in turn, can influence the way future generations live. During Great Big Green Week, we’ve been busy setting up activities to teach our little ones about climate change and its effects on the planet.
Overall, our goal is to empower our children with the knowledge and passion to make a difference. Join us in celebrating Great Big Green Week and let’s make a positive impact together!

Furthermore, a prestigious award that recognises our excellence in developing sustainably, and for genuinely driving change in the early years sector.
