Employees at Hadland Care Group were treated to free back massage sessions in recognition of National Back Care Awareness Week. With it being estimated that four out of every five adults (80%) will experience back pain at some stage in their life* the awareness week is focusing on back and shoulder problems office workers encounter which can affect quality of life and ability to carry out day-to-day duties.
A qualified masseur, Anita Kelly, was fully booked-up with Hadland Care Group employees receiving their free treatments at the offices. The company also issued information to all its 400 staff to raise awareness of the problems back pain can cause, as well as prevention and guidance on key lifting techniques.
Charlotte Percival, HR director at Hadland Care Group, commented: “It is really important to know how sit whilst we are working at our desks, remembering to correct our posture – no slouching! Other tips include considering standing up when taking a phone call, or when talking to a colleague you both stand to have the conversation as this helps stretch out your back from the normal desk position.
“It’s been great to be able to offer this treat to our staff at head office, and for us to take note of how important it is for us to look after our backs.”
