Healthy Body, Happy Me 2020

This week our nurseries are taking part in Healthy Body, Happy Me Week to encourage children to take part in plenty of exercise and activities to improve their wellbeing.

The National Day Nurseries Association began this campaign to support nurseries in making improvements to children’s wellbeing. During these very challenging and confusing times, it is now more important than ever to encourage our children to exercise and help support their emotional wellbeing.

Healthy Body, Happy Me explores mental, physical and emotional wellbeing as well as emotional communication and staff wellbeing. Lots of children have already taken part with us while they’re at home and watching our daily updates!

Boogie Mites

Boogie Mites is a great way to get moving by incorporating music and dance to encourage exercise at home. Not only will this help children to have fun but it also supports the development of all seven areas in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our nurseries have already shared some live video sessions on Facebook for everyone to join!

Yoga is fantastic for keeping the little ones busy at home as it doesn’t require too much room and there are so many resources available online. It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful and healthy body and mind. Check out Cosmic Kids on YouTube for some excellent videos that follow stories and new poses!

The Daily Mile

Take part in the Daily Mile! The Daily Mile initiative has been embraced by our nurseries as a way to get the children exercising for 15 minutes, whether it is a run, jog or walk, it keeps those legs moving and improves the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children. Even if it is a few laps of the garden!

We will be sharing as many videos as we can from our nurseries over the next few weeks with Boogie Mites content, Yoga ideas and more. Follow us on YouTube for the latest videos and remember to keep moving for a Healthy Body, Happy Me!
