Learning About Sustainability Through Play at Tops Salisbury

At Tops Salisbury, sustainability is one of our core values. We believe that helping children learn how to care for the environment can start from an early age through simple, meaningful experiences.

Recently, our little Investigators enjoyed getting hands-on with sustainability as they helped to clean up their very own homemade beach! 🌊

Using litter pickers and tongs, the children carefully collected and sorted the rubbish they found. What looked like a fun activity was also a great opportunity to talk about why it is important to keep our environment clean and look after the world around us.

Learning through play:

Our children learn best when they can explore and get involved, and this activity was a wonderful example of learning through play.

As they cleaned their beach, the children developed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration as they carefully picked up and sorted the different items.

They also had the opportunity to think about what happens to rubbish when it is left in our environment and how we can all play a part in keeping our planet clean.

Small steps towards a sustainable future:

At Tops Salisbury, we believe sustainability starts with small, everyday actions. Learning to put rubbish in the bin, understanding recycling and caring for nature are all simple ways we can help children develop an early sense of responsibility for their environment.

Activities like our homemade beach clean-up make these ideas fun, practical and accessible, helping children understand that even small actions can make a difference. 🌍

This is just one of the ways we bring sustainability into our everyday practice.
