Conor Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, has visited the Tops Day Nursery Parkstone to hear about plans to provide 30-hours funded childcare to 3 and 4-year-old children in Bournemouth from September. Tops Day Nursery Parkstone was the very first nursery that Cheryl Hadland, founder of the Tops Day Nursery chain, opened 27 years ago.
Mr Burns was given a tour of the busy nursery by nursery manager Sarah to see first-hand how Tops Day Nursery Parkstone provides flexible, high-quality childcare through a wide range of activities and learning experiences. Cheryl and Conor discussed how the 30-hours funded childcare for 3 and 4 year olds would support more parents in Bournemouth and Poole to find employment, as well as other issues of concern to nurseries in the area such as business and VAT rates and levels of funding.
Mr Burns MP said:
“It was great to spend time at a brilliant nursery in Bournemouth and to meet the staff and children. It was wonderful to see how the nursery is giving them the best start in life.”
Cheryl Hadland, founder of Tops Day Nurseries, said:
“I was delighted to host Conor Burns MP at our Tops nursery and to show him the great work we do to provide our children with a rich learning environment. I am grateful that he was able to take the time to talk to us about how we are adapting to some of the changes in the sector”.
