At Tops Day Nurseries we recognize the importance of children having time to relax and unwind and therefore we will soon offer Meditation sessions in all of our settings.
For children, the easiest way to meditate is to find and listen to one’s own heartbeat. The heart is an organ that keeps us alive and allows us to feel love or sadness. By listening to our hearts we can understand more about our self and know our own hearts.
Some of the benefits of meditation in children are self-regulation, attention and concentration, self-esteem and creativity.
Children learn to become more aware of their own bodies and their reaction to stress so that they can better take control of their emotional and physical states. This ability to calm themselves when they experience stress is an invaluable tool, and leads them to have a more positive outlook on life and to be more confident.
From October 2016, all settings across the Tops Day Nurseries family will be implementing a Meditation Programme, a free session for children to take part in on a regular basis.
