Describe what a typical working day looks like?
I ensure I spend time every day to greet all staff and children. As part of my role I ensure the nursery is safe and secure for all staff and children as well as making sure I am available for everyone throughout the day. I support the admin team in the office and assist in the rooms when needed.
What do you like most about your role?
Working and supporting a team that are so passionate and really enjoy their work. I feel privileged to be able to support parents and their families through the transition as their children grow and helping to prepare the children for school. Seeing parents happy is very rewarding.
What qualities and skills do you think you need to do your job well?
A nursery manager has to have passion for the job, have a smiley happy personality, always be willing to learn and try new things and being part of a team.
What advice would you give someone looking to take on your role?
Have a passion for childcare, be able to have good adult skills in order to work effectively and manage a staff team.
What makes you smile at work?
Everything, I love my job and no matter what situation arises, something will always put a smile on my face.
