Community

At Tops, our Vision is “To maximize the social and environmental outcomes for children, learners, colleagues, and the community while being financially sustainable”.

Find out what we do to support this vision and how you could help us…

Intergenerational Partnerships:

You may have seen on the TV and in the press the benefits of children interacting with the elderly. Many studies have concluded that this social interaction cannot only decrease loneliness but can also delay mental decline as well as promote a number of health benefits including reducing frailty.

There are also a number of benefits to children including increased confidence, risk-taking and the opportunity to mix regularly with elderly people, which some children may not have the chance to do on a regular basis.

Here at Tops Bearwood, we are looking to build relationships with care homes in order to complete this programme.

Some of our other nurseries like Tops Bournemouth and Tops Winchester have taken part in this programme and have made wonderful connections with Fayrewood Ward at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital and St Catherine’s View Care home. The children have visited the residents a number of times and have taken part in a range of activities such as; music, craft, singing, ball games, and boogie mites.

If you work/own a care home local to Tops Bearwood and would be interested in building a relationship with us then please contact us at marketing@topsdaynurseries.co.uk to find out more…

Gardening Club:

At Tops, we actively encourage our children to be outside as much as possible. We have expansive outdoor play areas, and even run forest schools. Tops Day Nurseries take it one step further with Gardening Club!

Children thoroughly enjoy getting outside and involved in gardening club. With their peers, they plant seeds, transfer seedlings to the specially designed gardening area, and take responsibility for nurturing their plants. We grow fruits, vegetables and herbs which they love to eat once they’re ready!

If there are any Garden Centres that would like to get involved in our Gardening Club we would love to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to contact us at marketing@topsdaynurseries.co.uk to find out more…
