Welcome to Tops Day Nurseries: Bretonside Nursery, Plymouth

View our 3D video tour below!

Located in the heart of Plymouth, Tops Bretonside is an ideal day nursery & preschool for parents and carers looking for Early Education and Care in the centre of Plymouth and also features a Hi 5’s before and after school club for children up to the age of 11.

You can view our hourly rates and optional extras on our price list here: Tops Bretonside Price List. Find out more about 2, 3 and 4 year old funding and working tax credits here.

Our Bretonside nursery is set in grade II listed terrace row, with some original features inside dating back to the 1800’s.

Our Bretonside nursery has a homely feel to allow easy transitions for children moving between the baby, toddler and preschool rooms, with a number of exciting resources readily available for them to investigate.

Children have the opportunity to explore nature through the well-utilised garden and mud kitchen. The recently revamped rooms in the nursery are constantly changing based on the children’s interests.

Tops Bretonside is situated within a thriving arts community, in close proximity to the Theatre Royal and the Mayflower House of Arts. Children’s natural curiosity can be well catered for with access to numerous sites of historical interest such as the Mayflower Steps Memorial, as well as museums and ancient buildings.

The nearby north quay hosts a stunning aquarium which offers many watery educational activities, as well as -of course- the vast number of boats to watch and ducks to feed!

Although located in the city centre of Plymouth, our Bretonside nursery is not far from the Elizabethan Gardens, with its glorious water fountain, and Hoe Park with its large, green spaces and lighthouse.

Out Tops Bretonside nursery in plymouth also implements extra-curricular activities in line with the rest of the Tops Day Nurseries family. For example, Tops Cooking School, Boogie Mites, yoga, tooth brushing, Football Fun and much more!

Children at Tops benefit from our balanced no-added sugar menus that we have designed to support growth and development using the Children’s Food Trust Recommendations. To view our healthy, nutritious recipes click here.

At Tops Day Nurseries our aim is for all children to meet or exceed expected development for their age. We are implementing ‘SchemaPlay’ across all of our settings to help narrow the gap for any children showing signs of delay and to also enhance the learning experiences for all children that attend our settings. ‘SchemaPlay have recently created a video to help parents understand what schemes are, and how these can be identified and promoted at home. Watch the full video here’.

We respect children and believe that they deserve best possible start into their journey of life, that is why we ensure that we provide happy, loving childcare and education. We’d love for you to pop by and see us!

Tops Bretonside nursery is part of a group that provides the most eco-sustainable Early Education and Care in the UK, being respectful of the environment and acting to reduce, re-use and recycle resources is an important part of the culture and routine for the children and staff.
