Our Topsie nursery is a fun and friendly preschool, providing early education and care for children from 2 years old until they are ready to start school.

We pride ourselves on being an inspirational nursery in which children’s imaginations can run wild. Here at Topsie Gillingham, we have introduced beautiful and stimulating areas throughout the whole nursery to maximise the developmental experiences for your child. We focus our set ups on loose parts provocations, this type of open ended play supports fascination and exploration.

Our Nursery’s Unique Points

We pride ourselves on providing amazing resources for your little ones to explore and get creative, including our ‘secret’ mud kitchen which encourages outdoor play and imagination.

Our nursery is not just a place for your child to play and learn, but also a place for them to connect with the local community. We organize lots of outings, including bird watch walks, library visits, football games in the meadow, walks down the local river and to the park, and even deliver Christmas and Easter cards to our neighbours. We also take trips to the local post office to collect parcels, teaching children important life skills while also helping them develop their sense of responsibility and independence.

At our nursery, we believe in being friendly and welcoming to our neighbours and the wider community. We see ourselves as one with the community and strive to foster strong relationships with those around us. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow, while also promoting social responsibility and community involvement.

Topsie Gillingham is the smallest nursery in the Tops Day Nurseries family, offering a cosy and personal environment.

In our preschool room, we have introduced a “real” curiosity approach using interesting and natural resources, more loose parts provocations to play, lots of plants and gardening activities and have neutralised some of the bright colours to support children’s learning and development in line with current research and best practice.

Parents will also benefit from flexible bookings, like the rest of our Tops Day Nurseries across the South, where they can book to the nearest 15 minutes. Other benefits include sustainable outdoor & indoor environments, no added sugar menus and a range of extra-curricular activities.

Outside there is a compact enclosed garden which the children have access to in all weathers.  A bug hotel will soon be installed.  We are also lucky to be close to local shops and parks, and are a short walk to the school. Children may be able to join the Tops Forest School from Gillingham, and will also be implementing extra-curricular activities in line with the rest of the Tops Day Nurseries family, for example, Tops Cooking School, Boogie Mites, yoga, tooth brushing, Football Fun and much more!

We have a designated drop off area for parents to use around the back of the nursery, where the main entrance for children is also situated. Visitors may still access from the front of the building off the High Street.

At Tops Day Nurseries our aim is for all children to meet or exceed expected development for their age. We are implementing ‘SchemaPlay’ across all of our settings to help narrow the gap for any children showing signs of delay and to also enhance the learning experiences for all children that attend our settings. ‘SchemaPlay have recently created a video to help parents understand what schemes are, and how these can be identified and promoted at home. This nursery is part of a group that provides the most eco-sustainable Early Education and Care in the UK, being respectful of the environment and acting to reduce, re-use and recycle resources is an important part of the culture and routine for the children and staff.
