Q&A with Sophie Ridgeway – National Apprenticeship Week 2019

Can you tell us a bit about your role?

I work as a room manager of the Investigators room. The company supports me on how to be a better room manager and helps me improve the areas I need improving.

Why did you decide to apply for an apprenticeship?

To support and improve my knowledge of leading a team and further my skills on being an effective team leader.

What do you plan to do after your apprenticeship?

I plan to take the information I have learned and use it every day during my time with Tops. I will also take what I have learnt and teach others to better support them and be a role model to those I work with.

What benefits have you found since starting the team leading qualification?

I have access to information I didn’t already know, I can learn from various people who I never knew before I could learn from. I can learn more and develop my skills more.

What advice would you give to others thinking about completing an apprenticeship?

I would say go for it because you can learn so much and are supported throughout the whole time. The Aspire team are understanding and give you that support and encouragement when you need it.
