Rebecca Pow Endorses Eco-Friendly Alternatives to Wet Wipes at Tops

At Tops Day Nurseries we had the honor of welcoming MP Rebecca Pow to a local setting. Together, we collaborated on developing environmentally friendly wet wipes. Her participation underscores our strong support and partnership in advocating for the ban of traditional baby wipes.

As a leading provider of eco-sustainable childcare, we are deeply committed to environmental leadership. We wholeheartedly embrace the UK government’s decision to ban plastic wet wipes. This achievement reflects years of advocacy by Tops Day Nurseries, recently honored with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development.

For years, we’ve championed sustainability in childcare, recognising the environmental impact of traditional baby wipes, often containing single-use plastic. Proactively, we transitioned to producing our own environmentally friendly wipes and championed the use of reusable nappies, facilitated by purpose-built Nappy Hubs across our locations.

Our Team’s Take on the Wet Wipes Ban:

Chanelle, Manager at Tops Musgrove, further speaks on this: “We have been making our own wet wipes at Tops Musgrove for a couple of years. These are so easy to make and environmentally friendly. We strive to be as eco-friendly as possible and are always looking at new ways to be more sustainable.”

Due to their alarming pollution effects, we stopped using conventional baby wipes. They contribute to about 93% of sewer pipe blockages in the UK.. Additionally, commercially bought baby wipes often contain irritants and chemicals harmful to delicate skin.

At Tops Day Nurseries, we commend the UK government for its proactive approach to environmental protection and eagerly anticipate continued support for a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
