Tops Aims to Promote the Importance of Educating Children about the World around Them

The 1st June marked the start of Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.

We thought it was very important to celebrate Pride Month and educate the children about the world around them through a range of different activities such as; reading LGTBQ storybooks, learning what each colour of the pride flag means, taking part in our own pride festival, drawing pride rainbows and much more…

Throughout our Tops nurseries, we are continuously working hard to create a supportive, equal and inclusive environment throughout our nurseries and to promote the importance of educating children about the world, people and communities around them.

Simon, Senior Nursery Manager at Tops Winchester said; “At Tops Winchester we believe it is important to teach the children about the current world we live in. Throughout June we celebrated Pride by sharing stories about same sex parents and that love is love. Children in Pre-School love the story Prince and Knight and loved sharing the sequel to this story. Children talked about how they can be who they want to be and it doesn’t matter who you love as long as you are happy. We ended Pride by holding a rainbow day which the children really enjoyed”
