Tops Bearwood lit up the start of the festive season with a magical Christmas light switch-on event for children, families and the local community. The event was led by AFC Bournemouth legends Steve Fletcher and Jimmy Glass, who performed the official countdown and switched on the lights. The evening featured a festive playdough station, a Christmas light trail, soft play and a special visit from Father Christmas, creating a fun and engaging environment for children of all ages. Families had the chance to explore the nursery’s indoor and outdoor spaces, all whilst enjoying seasonal activities.
The appearance of Steve Fletcher and Jimmy Glass made the event particularly memorable, with children and parents thrilled to see the football legends help launch the festive season at the nursery. Their support added to the strong sense of community spirit that Tops Bearwood aims to create with local families.
Senior Nursery Manager, Katherine Woodland, said it was a wonderful evening that really showcased what the Tops Bearwood community is all about. She highlighted how special it was to see the children’s faces light up as the decorations came on, and to watch them share those moments with their families, with Steve Fletcher and Jimmy Glass there to help celebrate. It made a truly memorable start to Christmas.
Jimmy Glass, former AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper best known for his dramatic 1999 goal that kept Carlisle United in the Football League, said it was a pleasure to be invited to switch on the Christmas lights this year along with Steve. He remarked that it was great to see so many people there to support the event, even in the wet weather, and praised Tops for its fantastic reputation within the childcare industry, noting that after meeting the dedicated staff it is easy to see why.
The event reflects Tops Bearwood’s focus on offering rich, real-world experiences alongside high-quality early years education, giving children opportunities to celebrate together, build confidence and create positive memories with their friends and families. A fantastic evening was had by all, marking a joyful start to the festive season at Tops Bearwood. To learn more about Tops Bearwood and be part of events like this one, get in touch today here.
