Tops Day Nurseries, a family of day nurseries in Somerset, were proud sponsors of the recent Home-Start gala dinner to raise funds for services to local families.
On Saturday 19th September Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director of Tops Day Nurseries, attended the Home-Start gala dinner and presented at cheque for £400 to the charity.
Home-Start helps families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them. They support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. Home-Start works because volunteers are parents and they understand how hard it can be. They work alongside parents, in their own homes, to help them cope with the stresses and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, time and strength they need to nurture their children.
The gala dinner took place at the Tithe Barn in Hinton St Mary which was beautifully dressed to fit the theme of ‘Downton Abbey’, with Tops Day Nurseries feather favours, waiters and waitresses dressed in post-Edwardian attire and a champagne reception.
Local celebrity and writer of Downton Abbey, Lord Fellowes also attended the event, giving attendees a chance to ask questions about his career and the award winning series.
After speeches, an auction of promises was held to end the evening. A great list of promises had been given, including a week in a two bedroom apartment in Nice, a chef to cook a meal for up to 14 people in the winners home, £100 of personalised stationery from Lord Grantham’s stationer, the services of a handyman for a day, a Virginia Hayward hamper and many more.
We are pleased to announce the evening raised an amazing £5,500 for the Home-Start charity, allowing more support to be available for local families in need.
