Tops Havant welcomes the Mayor for official opening

Havant

AP3_6578On Monday 16th May the latest addition to the Tops Day Nurseries family, Tops Havant, was officially opened by the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby.

When the Mayor arrived she was given a tour of the nursery and joined in with the activities in the Pre-school garden including giant bubble blowing and den-making.  Under the shade of the Pre-school garden den, the Mayor read stories to the children including one of particular interest, ‘Ten in the Bed’. The Mayor also visited the Investigators room, enjoying scented water play and sand play with shells and stones, before spending time with the Explorers children talking about the fantastic pictures they had drawn.

AP3_6699The children gathered around the ribbon that was held in front of the door with staff and parents, and watched as the Mayor cut the ribbon declaring Tops Havant as officially open.  Children from each room had made thank you cards for the Mayor and these were presented at the ceremony to say thank you for opening the new setting.  Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, a fantastic cake made by Jenny, Early Years Practitioner at Tops Havant, was cut with the help of two pre-school children and Marty Mouse!

Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director for Tops Day Nurseries, commented, “We were delighted that the Mayor was AP3_6602able to take time out of her busy schedule to officially open our latest nursery.  All the children, parents and staff enjoyed her visit and were thrilled that she took such an active role in playing and engaging with the children.”
