Following their recent inspection in May, Ofsted has awarded Tops Musgrove a ‘GOOD’ rating.
This was the nursery’s first inspection since October 2013 and the Ofsted inspector concluded that the nursery is delivering quality and caring provision that meets the needs of all children well and ensures they are ready for the next stage of their learning. There are a number of different areas that Ofsted reviews in order to decide the rating, and these fall into four main areas; effectiveness of the leadership and managers; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and finally, outcomes for children.
The Ofsted Inspector said, “The effective key-person system ensures children are happy and feel secure. Staff work closely with parents to ensure children’s transition to the next room is smooth. Children, including babies, have daily opportunities to be outdoors and use good resources.” The high standard of care has not gone un-noticed by many parents with children attending the nursery. The inspector also commented, “Staff exchange good information with parents. Parents comment positively on how their strong partnerships support their children’s learning at nursery and home.”

Abi recently returned to the nursery from maternity leave and in her short time back leading the team she has made significant changes to the activities and processes in place. I’m pleased that she and her team have been rewarded for their hard work with this result.”
Tops Musgrove caters for children from 3 months old up to pre-school age, and children 5 – 11 years in the Mini Beasts Play Club. The nursery became part of the Tops Day Nurseries family in December 2003. Tops Day Nurseries are unique in the childcare they provide as working families and Musgrove hospital staff have the flexibility to be able to book to the nearest 15 minutes they need, as well as being able to book from 6.45am.
