A Festive Partnership Bringing Theatre to Life
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news, Tops Day Nurseries is sponsoring Little Robin Red Vest, a heart-warming early years Christmas show at Lighthouse Poole, running from 22nd November to 14th December 2025.

This enchanting adaptation of Jan Fearnley’s timeless Christmas classic is designed for children aged 2–6 and their families, combining original songs, puppetry, and the integrated Makaton language programme. It’s a beautiful celebration of friendship, generosity, and the joy of giving, values we hold close at Tops.

Hands-On Creativity with Tops Poole
As part of this partnership, children and staff from Tops Day Nurseries Poole visited Lighthouse Poole to help create a festive welcome for families. Our little ones made pom-pom robins and worked with the Lighthouse team to design a bright, cheerful display in the studio foyer. Activities like these reflect what we do best at Tops; encouraging arts, crafts, and hands-on learning as part of everyday life.

Why This Matters for Early Years Education
At Tops, we believe in enriching early years education through real-world experiences. Sponsoring this magical show is more than just festive fun; it’s about supporting child development in meaningful ways.
Theatre visits spark:
- Communication and language skills
- Understanding of the world
- Personal, social, and emotional growth
As Sophie Johnson, our Quality & Audit Director, explains:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to partner with Lighthouse Poole. From this term, groups of our children will experience a theatre visit each term, beginning with this magical Christmas show that Tops are proudly sponsoring.”

The Story Behind Little Robin Red Vest
Set one frosty evening, a week before Christmas, Little Robin washes and irons seven warm vests for the chilly nights ahead. As the days pass, he meets cold, shivering animals and kindly gives away his vests. By Christmas Eve, Little Robin is left cold and alone — until a mysterious friend rewards his kindness with a perfect little red vest.
It’s a tale that teaches empathy, kindness, and the joy of giving; values that align beautifully with our Tops ethos.

Growing Minds for a Greener Future
This partnership reflects our commitment to innovative, child-centred learning. By engaging with live performance, storytelling, music, and movement, children build confidence, curiosity, and creativity; essential foundations for lifelong learning and key elements of the Tops Curriculum.
