As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, Tops Day Nurseries, Hadland Care Group and Aspire Training Team are absolutely delighted to be named as plastic free champions by Surfers Against Sewage, and the Sobowastebusters!

Our Founder, Cheryl Hadland commented

“We are passionate about reducing our environmental impact in order to protect the future of the thousands of very small children that attend all our day nurseries (31 across the South coast down to Plymouth currently)  This means taking every opportunity to avoid buying any one use plastic, to work with suppliers and colleagues to reduce the need for it by finding alternatives or just stopping. We are also actively communicating with politicians, manufacturers, retailers and waste handling organisations to make our concerns heard, on behalf of the children.  Time is of the essence, we need to stop polluting our water, our air and our land now, not wait for 2030 or 2050 as that will be too late”

Tops Day Nurseries leads the way as one of the South’s most eco-sustainable childcare providers. We actively reduce our environmental impact by banning single-use plastics such as cling film, carrier bags, aprons, and wet wipes. Instead, we use reusable containers, homemade wipes, and other eco-friendly alternatives. Many of our nurseries actively write to manufacturers, urging them to reduce waste and make products recyclable. We also actively participate in local beach cleans to help protect the environment.

Cheryl Hadland, the founder of GECCO, a registered charity promoting sustainability in business and education, plays a key role in driving these efforts. Furthermore, through GECCO, Cheryl and her team share their knowledge and experiences, supporting sustainable practices like our beach cleans and reusable nappy initiative to promote growth in a more environmentally responsible way.

Furthermore, this award makes it clear that we are acting already, in the hope that many more will join us.  We need to reduce our impact on the environment, now.  Please join us!

These efforts are just the beginning of Hadland Care Group’s sustainability journey, and many more changes lie ahead. In the meantime, to find out more about what we are doing to become more sustainable, please see below.
