Children from Tops Warminster Nursery, located in Warminster, Wiltshire, enjoyed a special Easter visit to Ashwood Care Home, taking part in a joyful intergenerational experience that brought together children and residents through creativity, music, and shared activities.
As part of the visit, the children created handmade Easter cards, which they proudly presented to residents at Ashwood Care Home. The thoughtful gesture brought smiles, conversation, and a real sense of seasonal celebration throughout the home.
The children also took part in a range of interactive activities, including dancing, playing musical instruments, and imaginative play with dolls. These shared experiences encouraged meaningful interaction between generations and helped create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved.
The visit is part of Tops Warminster’s ongoing commitment to providing enriching, real-life learning opportunities that extend beyond the nursery environment.
Intergenerational activities like this play an important role in early years development, helping children build confidence, empathy, communication skills, and emotional understanding. Spending time with older generations also supports children in developing respect, kindness, and social awareness.
By engaging in experiences outside the classroom, children are able to learn in a way that is memorable, meaningful, and deeply impactful.
Tops Warminster continues to strengthen its links within the local community by creating opportunities for children to connect with residents, organisations, and care settings across Wiltshire.
These experiences not only benefit children, but also bring joy and companionship to care home residents, helping to reduce loneliness and foster a sense of community connection.
Tops Warminster Nursery is part of the wider Tops Day Nurseries group, providing high-quality early years education and childcare across the South of England. The nursery is committed to delivering nurturing, child-centred experiences that support learning, development, and wellbeing.
