For 25 years, Tops Day Nurseries Wimborne has been at the heart of the local community, providing exceptional early years education and childcare for generations of children across Wimborne, Dorset. This year, the nursery proudly celebrated its 25th birthday, marking a significant milestone with a day full of memories, laughter, and community spirit.

The celebrations brought together children, parents, former pupils, colleagues, and members of the local community to reflect on the nursery’s remarkable journey and celebrate the many lives it has touched over the past quarter of a century.

A Special Celebration for the Whole Community

The nursery was transformed for the occasion with colourful birthday decorations, delicious food, refreshments, and, of course, a birthday cake shared with families and guests.

One of the most popular features of the day was a memory wall, showcasing photographs of children who have attended Tops Wimborne throughout the past 25 years. Families, colleagues and former pupils enjoyed looking back through the photographs, reminiscing about cherished memories and seeing how the nursery has evolved while remaining true to its values of exceptional childcare, sustainability and child-led learning.

Wimborne Town Crier Helps Mark the Occasion

Adding a touch of tradition to the celebrations, Wimborne Town Crier, Chris Brown, paid a special visit to officially commemorate the nursery’s 25th anniversary.

His ceremonial announcement brought excitement to the day and highlighted the important role Tops Wimborne continues to play within the local community.

Chris Brown said:

“I very much enjoyed celebrating the anniversary of Tops Day Nursery in what was once the Churchill pub. The facilities and space they have to encourage the children to explore and enjoy their surroundings is impressive. The children are all clearly enjoying the warm and creative environment with the caring and professional staff and, as an ex-children’s social worker, I was very impressed. The cake was delicious and very much appreciated.”

Former Pupil Returns After 23 Years

One of the most heartwarming moments of the celebration came when former pupil Callum returned to Tops Wimborne for the first time in 23 years.

Walking around the nursery brought back countless childhood memories, demonstrating the lasting impact quality early years education can have on children and families.

Callum said:

“Returning to Tops Wimborne after 23 years was a really nostalgic experience. It was amazing how many memories came back to me, especially seeing things like the tyres in the garden that I remember playing with as a child. Celebrating the nursery’s 25th birthday was really meaningful and it was great to be a part of the day.”

His visit served as a powerful reminder that Tops Day Nurseries is more than just a nursery, it is a place where lifelong memories are created.

Creating a Legacy with a Time Capsule

To mark this important milestone, a small group of children buried a time capsule within the nursery grounds.

Filled with photographs, artwork, keepsakes and memories from the celebration, the capsule captures life at Tops Day Nurseries Wimborne in 2026. One day, future generations of children and colleagues will reopen it, providing a fascinating glimpse into what nursery life looked like 25 years earlier.

The time capsule symbolises the nursery’s commitment not only to celebrating its past but also to looking forward to an exciting future.

Looking Back While Looking Ahead

Kayleigh, Regional Manager at Tops Day Nurseries, reflected on the occasion:

“We were delighted to welcome Chris the Town Crier to Tops Wimborne as part of our 25th birthday celebrations. It was a wonderful opportunity to look back on the journey of our nursery over the years, looking back at photographs of the setting and seeing how much has changed, while also recognising the values and commitment that have remained the same. We are incredibly proud of our dedicated team and the care, support and learning opportunities they provide for children every day.”
