Tops win first place in Carnival Fiesta

Carnival

CarnivalOn Sunday 7th August, Tops Poole and Tops Parkstone were awarded first place in the Youth Organisation Float category at the annual Poole Carnival with their Rio Olympics 2016 float.

The staff and children worked very hard to create an Olympic carnival float with flags, costumes and even the Olympic rings suspended from the 30ft float.  Not only were a majority of the countries taking part in the Olympics represented by hand made flags, but also a wide variety of sports, including a paddling pool filled with blue balls to represent swimming.  No Olympic themed float would be complete without the Olympic torch, which was also hand made in the nursery.carnival

Staff were dressed in true Rio carnival spirit with feather head-dresses and tutus, as well as sportswear and medals made by the children…even Marty Mouse was walking alongside the float in colourful carnival attire! 500 union jack gift boxes were given out to children in the crowd, each containing a medal, information about Tops Day Nurseries and Mini Beasts Holiday Club and an exotic recipe card with a recipe from our new no added sugar menus.

WP_20160807_11_01_59_ProAs the 1.9 mile route along Ashley Road started, all the children waved at onlookers whilst listening to a selection of Rio Carnival Samba songs!  The procession was welcomed into Branksome Rec with music and cheers from the crowd, before everyone enjoyed a variety of games, activities and food stalls.

We would like to thank all the staff, parents and children who attended the carnival and joined us as part of the procession, we couldn’t have done it without you!
