In the universe are billions of galaxies,
In our galaxy are billions of planets,
But there is #OnlyOneEarth.
Let’s take care of it.
World Environment Day is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1974. It is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
Did you know?
- We are using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain our current way of life, and ecosystems cannot keep up with our demands.
- Our lifestyles are associated with two thirds of all greenhouse gas emissions – studies show that sustainable lifestyles and behaviours could reduce our emissions by 40 to 70% by 2050.
- Sustainable consumption and production can drive economic development, mitigate climate change, positively impact health and pollution, and help alleviate poverty – potentially increasing incomes by an average of 11% in low- and medium-income countries by 2060, and 4% in high-income countries.
What we do at Tops Day Nurseries
At Tops Day Nurseries, we believe in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible world for all, and we aim to achieve this through educating the children that attend our settings. We have made a number of company-wide, sustainable changes, including, banning glitter, removal of singe use plastic, installation of energy saving equipment and much, much more. The multiple sustainable initiatives we have introduced has meant that we were the first day nursery chain in the UK to achieve B Corp accreditation and were awarded a Queens Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.
These prestigious awards highlight how important our work is and only motivate us more to continue to be sustainable in our every day practice and to carry on sharing our efforts and spread the importance of saving our environment.
Providing happy, nurturing childcare for the hours you need, across over 30 nursery settings in: Babbacombe, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Charminster, Copnor, Fawley, Gillingham, Corfe Mullen, Havant, Lakeside, Lymington, Taunton, Newport, Poole, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Southsea, Wareham, Wimborne, Winchester and Yeovil.
