B Corp Certification
B Corp (Certified B Corporation) is a globally recognised certification awarded by the non‑profit B Lab to businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
It isn’t just about being “green”, it’s about using the power of business to create positive impact for people, communities, and the planet.
Certified B Corps are part of a global movement that balances profit with purpose across governance, workers, community, environment, and customer impact.
Tops is a Certified B Corp
We are proud to confirm that Tops Day Nurseries — trading as Hadland Sustainable Education Limited — is a Certified B Corporation on B Lab’s global platform. Our certification demonstrates that we meet and exceed high standards of verified social and environmental performance.
Tops Day Nurseries achieved an overall B Impact Score of 141.2, significantly above the minimum score (80) required for certification and well above the median score for ordinary businesses.
This score reflects the depth of responsibility we embed across our organisation, from governance and community to environment and colleague wellbeing.
Why B Corp Matters
Becoming a B Corp is not a one‑off achievement, it’s a commitment to continual improvement.
Here’s why B Corp is important:
Demonstrates transparency and accountability – verified by an independent third party.
Balances people, planet and profit – not just financial success.
Supports sustainable practices that help future generations.
Helps guide ongoing improvement across how we care for children, colleagues and communities.
By meeting B Corp standards, we commit to using business as a force for good, aligning our nursery operations with broader social and environmental wellbeing.
Our B Corp Status to Sustainability
B Corp certification sits at the heart of our sustainability strategy. It aligns directly with our values and existing initiatives — many of which you can explore on our Sustainability pages:
- Carbon neutral commitments (Scope 1 & 2)
- Eco‑friendly nursery buildings and materials
- Zero Waste to Landfill programmes
- Plastic‑free action plans
- Locally sourced, organic menus
- Reusable resources in everyday routines
These actions reflect how sustainability is part of every decision we make at Tops, not an add‑on.
Our Ongoing B Corp Journey
B Corp certification is renewed every three years, meaning we must continue to demonstrate progress and improvement in all areas of impact. We see this as a driving force for positive change, influencing how we work with families, communities, colleagues, suppliers and the environment.
