Community Impact
We take our responsibility to the planet and society seriously. That means thinking beyond the nursery walls and considering the impact of every decision we make on the environment, local communities, our colleagues, and the children in our care.
Our Sustainability Commitment Statement:
We have a commitment to remain Carbon Neutral to Scope 1 & 2, with the aspiration to achieve Scope 3. Every decision we make has a sustainability consideration.
“To maximise social and environmental outcomes for children, learners, colleagues, and the community—while remaining financially sustainable.”
At Tops Day Nurseries, our Vision is simple yet powerful:
We take our responsibility to the planet and society seriously. That means thinking beyond the nursery walls and considering the impact of every decision we make on the environment, local communities, our colleagues, and the children in our care.
Sustainability isn’t just a goal for us, it’s woven into everything we do. From our curriculum to our daily operations, we’re committed to building a better future.
As part of our community mission, we actively engage with and support the areas we serve. Each Tops nursery is proud to be a part of its local community, making meaningful contributions and building strong connections.
We’re proud to be B Corp-certified again, reflecting our commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
We engage in events like Recycling Week, teaching families about waste reduction, and Community Garden Week, where children connect with nature through gardening.
Through these initiatives, alongside beach walks and other sustainable activities, we aim to inspire environmental stewardship in both children and the wider community, reinforcing our values of sustainability and community engagement.
Making a Difference in Our Communities
Our company enables its colleagues to volunteer through flexible time arrangements; colleagues can volunteer through programs organised internally or externally, but there is no pressure at all to do this.
They are contributing to social impact through the work they do already, engaging in initiatives led at nursery level, such as food banks, and shared resources (such as nappies, craft materials, recycling collections).

Bridging Generations: The Tops Generations Programme
At Tops, we take pride in fostering meaningful connections between generations through our Tops Generations programme, which brings children and elderly residents in local care homes together for activities like storytelling, arts and crafts, and singing.
In addition to working with care homes, we partner with local churches and hospitals to further strengthen our community role.
These collaborations offer children more opportunities to engage with people of all ages, making our nurseries welcoming, community-focused spaces that support our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
